Hedgelaying
30th January 2024
You may have read in our New Year's newsletter that our good friend Adam spent almost 3 weeks laying the hedge along our lane over the Christmas and New Year period. This historic method of hedge management involves cutting through the hedge stems almost completely, and then laying them at an angle to the ground. By laying the hedge in this way the branches are stimulated in their growth, filling up gaps in the hedge thereby making it stronger and healthier - the perfect corridor for wildlife and a safe place for birds and small animals to nest. We can't wait for the new growth to start and in a few months we'll share again how it looks.
